Arrival in Leon

Today I left Sahagun behind me and travelled onwards via RENFE media distance service to Leon. There is a walk of about 2.5 km from the Station to the Albergue that I am staying in. Crossing the river bridge and passing a demonstration Hydro Electric power station I was greeted by the sight of a roundabout with a lovely fountain in the middle.

A walk down Avenieda de Argentina and a few more streets and I passed the remains of the old city walls. Just around the corner I found the Albergue, part of the Benedictine convent. The signs here are all welcoming. It is the first Albergue with a kettle too! There are very few pilgrims here tonight and I was the only one to attend Vespers and Mass. The nuns were brilliant with the sung psalms it was such a joy. Imagine my surprise when the priest Invited me to come forward for a pilgrim blessing. Just me. It was a very special moment and I dedicate it to those who have asked for my prayer this week and those who are finding life difficult either at work or because of their infirmity.

May you be as blessed as I was in that moment.
