Burgos - ultima

Well guys I am feeling positive today, train ticket to Sahagun booked, so it's a 5km walk to the RENFE station tomorrow and adios a Burgos. Today however began as others with sung Lauds and Mass in the Cathedral. A sneaky picture of the altar reredos in St Tecla's chapel where it all happens is included today. This daily liturgy has been such a spiritual boost.

I managed to explore two other churches too. Today's find was the (free) Museo de Burgos. Here I discovered lots of archaeological finds from the Burgos Province. Two of the sites I had walked past earlier in the Camino, so it was exciting to be able to link the finds with places I have in recent memory. There were also works of art from across the centuries, all with Burgos links.

Museums such as this, or indeed Parish Archives are like a community 'memory box' enabling special moments from past times to be brought into the present in order that the present can be blessed by the past. Whilst this is not the whole explanation of the Eucharist in church communities, it is part of the action. The memory of the Last Supper is by word and action brought into the present that the church can receive that which Christ has gifted it.
Enjoy the pictures...
