Train Spotting in Sarria

As I discovered today trains are something of a rarity at the weekend in Sarria. There are three each way on a Saturday and two each way on a Sunday. What is remarkable given the low level of service compared to similar places at home is that two out of three on the Saturday and both on the Sunday heading south go all the way to Madrid Chamartin.

For the railway buffs among you here is a Plasser Tamper parked up and ready for action in the siding, the 11.35 to Madrid running two minutes late , the station house and a "Beeching" relic - a loading gauge for a siding that no longer exists, but perhaps might return?
